Integrative medicine is healing-oriented medicine that takes account of the whole person, treating the mind, body & spirit synergistically, not as separate and independent entities.
It emphasizes the therapeutic relationship and makes use of all appropriate therapies, both conventional and alternative. There is always a time and place for conventional medicine, and likewise for alternative medicine.
Integrative medicine is a philosophy that neither rejects conventional medicine nor accepts alternative medicine uncritically. It recognizes that good medicine should be based in good science, be inquiry driven and be open to new paradigms. Integrative medicine utilizes natural, effective and less invasive interventions when appropriate, such as Ayurvedic medicine, homeopathy, & acupuncture. The broader concepts of integrative medicine focus on promotion of health, prevention of illness and treatment of disease.
We do not bill insurance. Insurance companies do not recognize a lot of aspects of integrative health and do not deem them medically necessary. We choose to use the time we would spend arguing with insurance companies with our patients instead.
We offer patients receipts they can submit for reimbursement and patients can use their HSA accounts if it is allowed by their plan. Studies have shown that patients spend less overall in a cash-based practice vs. an insurance-based practice because they are on a wellness journey which is proactive, not reactive.
Both of our doctors are dual certified in family practice and integrative health, however we do recommend patients have a primary care doctor whom they trust for emergency issues. We cannot guarantee same day sick appointments or have the necessary tools needed to diagnosis illnesses like strep or the flu. Women should still have a gyn doctor. We also refer to appropriate specialists when needed. Think of this practice as your front line of defense to PREVENT getting illnesses or chronic diseases.
Your first visit with the doctor you should plan to spend a minimum of 90 minutes in our office or on the phone. We require the online paperwork to be completed prior to the appointment so the doctor can adequately prepare and to allow the time spent with the patient to be as efficient as possible. During this visit you will go over your personal history, your family history, and any health concerns you may have. You and your doctor with then lay out a plan on how to proceed with your care. It is a collaborative effort and we always strive for optimal results.
We do not require a referral or any previous medical records in order to be a patient at Synergistiq! We welcome all people who are looking to start their journey to a happier, healthier version of themselves.
