In Ayurveda, which is science and medicine that are centuries old from India, fasting has been practiced as a way to reset the body and get the doshas balanced.
We are overfed and undernourished and food these days is more like our poison ☠️ than our medicine ?. Ayurveda states that ama (toxins & inflammation ?) are the root cause of disease that disturbs our agni (digestive fire ?).
I always stress strong gut health and a plant-based diet with intermittent fasting to maintain positive homeostasis in the body. Our bodies are very intelligent and have an inclination to heal, but we abuse it so much, that for every 5 steps we take forward, we take 3 or 4 back.
We need to be proactive and stay ahead of the game.
Intermittent fasting and fasting mimicking are a terrific way to enhance performance, boost weight loss, detox, stabilize insulin, lower bad cholesterol, clear brain fog, improve gut health, promote restful sleep, reduce inflammation and slow down aging.
I mean… does any of that sound bad?
